The term Heart disease is used to describe many different diseases which affect
the heart. The diseases can range from the following which are all diseases of
the heart itself:
-Coronary
-Inflammatory
-Ischemic
Other heart diseases that affect the heart that are caused by other medical
illnesses include:
-Cardiovascular- this is a form of heart disease that could also affects the
blood vessel system including veins and arteries.
-Hypertensive- this is generally caused by high blood pressure
Known medical conditions that affect the heart directly and are known conditions
of heart disease are
-Angina which is a pain in the heart due to blood supply being very low.
-Arteriosclerosis which is known as the hardening of the arteries.
-Atherosclerosis in which the arteries become narrow due to cholesterol and fat
build up. This is another reason it is so important to keep your cholesterol
levels low.
Other known heart diseases are known to be hereditary and due the congenital
defects of the heart. Many of the known heart diseases can be avoided while
others cannot because they
can be hereditary.
There are ways to avoid heart disease that is not hereditary these ways include
watching your weight, controlling your blood pressure, and not smoking.
As of the year 2007, heart disease is the number one cause of death in England,
Wales, Canada, and the United States. Heart disease, on average, kills one person
every 34 seconds in the United States alone. Figure in the same amount of time
each day for England, Wales, and Canada, that is approximately 400 people per
hour each day.
To avoid having heart problems in the future you should be aware of the problems
and health conditions that can lead to heart disease. Taking care of you body
and most importantly your heart. The more health problems you have the higher
possibility of heart disease.
Heart disease is also the number one cause of death in women, this is even higher
than women with breast cancer. So take care of your heart and reduce the potential
risks.
